Jonathan Spector's season ends early

Jonathan Spector's season has come to an end after dislocating his shoulder in his team's recent game against Portsmouth.

The Arlington Heights, Ill. native was injured after a violent collision with Portsmouth's Benjani Mwaruwari in the 38th minute of Charlton Athletic's 2-1 victory.

"Spector popped his shoulder out, he went straight to hospital," said Charlton manager Alan Curbishley after the game.

Spector, on loan from Manchester United, has spent the entire season with Charlton and appeared in 24 games. He will return to Manchester for his surgery and rehabilitation.

Spector, 20, was considered to be a long shot to make the United States' World Cup roster prior to the injury.
