Bian Ching's four goal outburst against Colorado on Sunday earned him MLS Player of the Week honors for the first weekend of the regular season.

Playing before a large home crowd in Houston's inaugural game, Ching exploded for three first half goals before heading home his fourth in the 72nd minute off a corner kick. Three of Ching's goals were headers, with the first two coming off crosses from Brian Mullan.

Ching's effort was the ninth time in MLS history that a player has scored at least four goals in one game. Clint Mathis, while playing for the MetroStars in 2000, holds the MLS single game goal record with five against Dallas.

Ching's impressive weekend also resulted in a call-up to the U.S. National Team for its game next week against Jamaica.
