New York and Houston traded midfielders with the Red Bulls getting former Hermann Trophy winner Danny O'Rourke in exchange for Canadian international Adrian Serioux.
"We are delighted to get a player of Serioux's caliber," said Dynamo President and General Manager, Oliver Luck. "He'll be an excellent addition to our midfield."
Adrian Serioux recently joined the Red Bulls in March after registering 12 appearances in the last two seasons with England's Millwall. The 6-0, 180-pound native of Scarborough, Ontario has also earned eight caps for the Canadian National Team.
O'Rourke appeared in 13 games for San Jose last season after being selected fourth overall in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft.
"In the past two weeks we've experienced a sea of change within our organization and these moves are in accordance with our new our direction and philosophy," said Red Bull New York President and General Manager Alexi Lalas.
A four-year standout at Indiana University, the 22-year-old captained the Hoosiers to back-to-back national titles in 2003 and 2004. He also was awarded the prestigious Hermann Trophy in 2004, which is college soccer's equivalent of college football's Heisman Trophy.
