The Colorado Rapids have solidified their defense by signing goalkeeper Joe Cannon to a multi-year contract. Terms of the deal were not announced.
Cannon has consistently been one of the top goalkeepers in the league, winning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2002 and 2004.
"I'm looking forward to continue building the foundation of the team and helping the Rapids get to the next level by giving this franchise their first MLS Championship," Cannon said.
Cannon fought through an abdominal injury for most of the 2005 season but still posted eight shutouts with a goals-against-average of 1.20.
Cannon has appeared in two games for the U.S. Men's National Team and has yet to concede a goal in two halves of play.
